FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the X video downloader free?+

Yes. It is free with no account, no app and no limit on downloads.

Which links work?+

Any public post link from x.com or twitter.com, including mobile links. Posts with several videos show each one separately.

Why can I not find a video?+

The post may be from a private account, deleted, or marked as sensitive. Only public posts can be downloaded.

Can I download GIFs?+

Yes. X stores GIFs as short videos, so they save as MP4 files that loop in most players.

Where does the file go?+

To your usual Downloads folder. On iPhone and iPad, Safari saves it to the Files app. If a video opens in a new tab instead, right click or long press it and choose Save video.

Can I use downloaded videos in class?+

Only download videos you made or have permission to use. Classroom use of short clips may be allowed in some cases, but copyright rules vary by country, so check your school policy.

Do you keep the links I paste?+

No. Links are looked up through a public X embed service and the video downloads straight from X. Nothing is saved on our servers.
