FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is a weighted grade calculated?+

Each score is multiplied by its weight, the results are added together, and the total is divided by the sum of the weights.

What if my weights do not add up to 100?+

The calculator divides by the weights you entered, so the grade reflects the work graded so far. This is how most gradebooks show a grade during the term.

How do you work out the score needed on the final?+

Needed score = (target grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight, with the final weight written as a decimal.

Which letter grade scale is used?+

A standard US scale: A is 93 and above, A− is 90 to 92, B+ is 87 to 89, and so on down to F below 60.

Can I enter points instead of percentages?+

Yes. Type a score like 44/50 and it is converted to a percentage automatically.

Are my grades saved?+

Your rows are stored only in this browser so they are there next time. Nothing is sent to our servers.
